“MR Merseyside” Lord Heseltine returns to Liverpool this summer for the International Festival for Business 2014.
The former Deputy Prime Minister is to appear at several events at the UK’s inaugural IFB2014, which is being billed as the biggest business festival of its kind in the country for more than 60 years, featuring more than 200 events.
The veteran Conservative politician might have been grilled by Paxman, Dimbleby and Humphrys in his glittering political career, but is he ready to run the gauntlet of questions posed by local actor Mike Neary as part of the In Conversation series? Happily, it will be more about the man and the music than the murky world of Westminster. St George’s Hall is the grand setting where Hezza's life story will be set to the soundtrack of his life on Tuesday, June 17.
Lord H is also one of the key participants in the 300-strong BT Global City Leaders’ summit on Wednesday, June 18 and in the exhibition and conference for the UK regeneration industry, Regen 2014 on 25-25 June.
He said: "I'm very much looking forward to being back in Liverpool.”
Lord Heseltine is most known throughout Liverpool for his work to help revive the city after the Toxteth riots and was instrumental in the redevelopment of the Albert Dock when the Merseyside Development Corporation was set up in 1981.
The genesis of the IFB was the independent report, Rebalancing Britain: Policy or Slogan, which he co-authored with former Tesco CEO Sir Terry Leahy in 2011.
Their main recommendation was for Liverpool to hold an expo event highlighting the city and the region as a great investment and business location.
So they are doing.
