Live the high life with butties, buns and booze at 240ft

ONE of Liverpool’s best rooftop bars has further boosted its appeal with the launch of a new afternoon tea. Gino D’Acampo’s 360 Sky Bar is up there with the city’s most popular cocktail bars thanks to its unique setting with incredible panoramic views of Liverpool and beyond.

The Italian celebrity chef, tipped for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, hopes to have guests waltzing through the doors of INNSiDE.

Now the 18th floor restaurant and bar at INNSiDE Old Hall Street is serving a daily afternoon tea which combines British tradition with a taste of Italy. Well of course, this is Gino.

D’Acampo has already got tongues wagging right now with rumours of an appearance on the next edition of BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing. Now, the Italian celebrity chef hopes to have guests waltzing through the doors of INNSiDE for an afternoon treat.

Available from 12pm to 5pm Sunday to Friday and 12pm to 3pm every Saturday, there are three options to choose from - Afternoon Tea (£29pp), Franciacorta Rosé Afternoon Tea, served with a glass of Ferghettina Rosé Brut (£35pp) and Champagne Afternoon Tea, served with a glass of Lallier Grand Cru Brut NV (£37pp).

Presented on a stylish gold tiered platter, Gino’s take on afternoon tea delivers a balance of savoury and sweet, including a deli selection, freshly baked scones, and four picture-worthy sweet treats. A pot of loose-leaf tea completes the menu with guests invited to choose from English breakfast, earl grey, camomile, green and peppermint.

For those looking to extend the occasion and let the day slip into night, you can take a seat at the bar and enjoy a selection of premium Italian and international wines, cocktails, spirits and beers. Pull up a seat between 5pm and 7pm, aperitivo time, and enjoy a selection of complimentary cicchetti to accompany the view.

INNSiDE Melia opened its first Liverpool hotel in September 2021. The former ECHO building, also known as City Tower and Metropolitan House, is 73 metres tall (240ft).

The building was originally constructed with 18 storeys but as the sky bar is double-heighted and the lift says 17, there is some debate as to whether it’s actually on the 17th or 18th floor. Either way, it’s the twelfth tallest building in Liverpool according to latest stats.

Both the 360 sky bar and hotel restaurant at INNSiDE come under the Gino D'ACampo brand. Guests looking for an a la carte dining experience can dine at Gino D’Acampo Old Hall Street, the open plan, 200-cover restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel.

But it's the 360 sky bar which rules the roost, looking out to New Brighton lighthouse, Stanley Dock, Anfield stadium, two cathedrals, Exchange Flags, the museums, and of course, the River Mersey.

The afternoon tea experience can be booked by email Liverpool@ginodacampohotelsandleisure.com or telephone 0151 832 4517 (minimum of 24 hours’ notice).
