TV sports meet cool tunes on Seel Street
Ropewalks is known for being one of the best areas of the city to head to for a drink thanks to its range of bars, new restaurants, old-favourites, hidden beer gardens and nightclubs. But its newest venue, Albert’s sneaked in just before Christmas, hoping to offer something a little different.
During the day, the bar specialises in showing sports via 2 x 3 metre projectors and a further 11 large screen televisions scattered around the bar, so sports fans can sit back with a drink and enjoy the game.
Once the final whistle has blown Albert’s will be dimming down the lights and playing some cool tunes. On Fridays and Saturdays there will be DJ's playing sets from 8pm onwards with a more relaxed attitude midweek where punters can chill out in one of the candlelit booths. Split over two floors, the upper mezzanine area is available for private hire.
Operations Manager Ruth Carmicheal, said: “The site has a really interesting back story. Some people will remember it being a garage. The site was owned by Albert Carmichael who ran the garage on this very spot for 35 years. When we purchased the site, Albert was excited to see how it would all look, but sadly he passed away before construction was completed. So we thought it only right to name the venue in his honour."
Albert’s occupies the ground floor and basement, while the upper floors are newly constructed apartments. The building and bar design came from Liverpool based SNOOK architects who also behind the recently opened Einstein in Concert Square.
