BRITAIN may or may not have talent, but Liverpool certainly has. Just walk past Coopers pub, in the aptly named Cases Street, any night after 11am.
Now the city’s best show-offs are being invited to flaunt their artistic gifts - with a chance to appear before thousands later this summer.
A giant travelling video wall from across the Irish Sea will be set up in Williamson Square, this Friday, to mark the city of Derry’s tenure as the first UK City of Culture.
Organisers from Derry are looking for “the city’s limelight-lovers and budding entertainers” to show off their skills on the day in front of a roving camera crew.

The best performers will win the chance to perform on stage in front of thousands at one of UK City of Culture’s biggest highlight events of the year – Music City in June – in an all-inclusive trip to Derry. Buena Vista Social Club will be headlining the event.

Already Liverpool is well in on the City of Culture act with Frank Cottrell-Boyce, ceremony writer for the London Olympics Games, staging one of the highlight events in Derry this year.
Liverpool loves an excuse to get up and sing - and if the powers that be had succeeded in banning buskers last summer, this might never have happened.
