The event in the Baltic will see 100 different beers from over 30 breweries
Once upon a time beer festivals were the sole kingdom of bearded men and hipster dudes wanging on about kegs, widgets and growlers. No more - and if you need proof then grab yourself a ticket to the Craft Beer Expo this summer.
We try to create an inclusive festival atmosphere, for beer newcomers and aficionados alike.
We've bobbed down to this event in Liverpool's Baltic Quarter quite a few times and can happily confirm it's a place where beers with or without beards, moustaches, and even man buns, are all welcome. Beer today, hair tomorrow. Life's too short, man.
The Craft Beer Expo takes place from 16-18 June at Black Lodge Brewery and Sub Rosa in the city's Baltic Triangle and will showcase the best of world beer with over 100 different beers from over 30 breweries.
Paul Seiffert, curator of the Craft Beer Expo and co-founder of the Black Lodge Brewery says, "This is the ninth year of the festival and we’re excited to invite some of the world’s best breweries back to Liverpool to showcase their beer.
“We try to create an inclusive festival atmosphere, for beer newcomers and aficionados alike. There will also be gin, cider and cocktail bars for those who like an alternative to beer.”
Sub Rosa will be serving up gin cocktails, wine and slushies. There will also be a dedicated lager bar and beer garden, as well as a range of ciders from Inncider Trading.
As well as national and international breweries, there will be several popular local breweries including the likes of Love Lane, Black Lodge and Chapter, amongst others.
Ukrainian brewery Varvar based in Kyiv will also exhibit at the festival, having teamed up with local brewers to produce a special collaboration beer at Carnival Brewing for the festival.
Beer without food is like night without day, and the Craft Beer Expo will feature food traders Bundobust (boss veggie Indian street food), Chip’d (Dutch Style Chips), Dough Bros (Neapolitan pizza), Fatback (smash burgers) and Root (small plates).
To accompany the festival, there will be DJs throughout, curated by Liverpool’s Melodic Distraction radio station.
