Duke Street fun factory gets an American makeover for summer
Salt, lemon and lime time. We could all do with a vacation right now but if your travel budget is limited to a return bus ticket on the Arriva 82 then here’s something to satisfy your wanderlust. PINS is hosting an old school American staycation this summer right in the heart of Liverpool and there’s going to be tequila, tequila, and, erm, more tequila.
Summercamp is about igniting memories of hazy summer days and nostalgic good times.
“Summercamp” is described as a four month long experiential event drawing inspiration from the classic American summer vacation - but strictly for adults. Taking place from Spring Bank Holiday Thursday 2 June until September, Summercamp will ignite the old school nostalgia of summer camping daze, filled with whimsical days of discovery and wondrous nights of parties.
In partnership with tequila brand Patrón, the three-storey Duke Street fun factory is getting a retro makeover, complete with wooden camp cabins with their own animal patrol identity, Adirondack deckchairs, swing-seats for chilling with a peach iced tea, and eye-catching mirror balls for when the sun goes down.
Throughout the day, campers can enjoy a variety of activities on the heated rooftop bar. Against a backdrop of DJs and live music, you can pick up a new skill at a craft workshop, chance your hand at outdoor games, or relax and unwind with rooftop yoga.
After sunset, the party will move downstairs to the main bar, with themed parade nights in the usual PINS spirit. Combining the lively atmosphere of the 4th of July and a college homecoming celebration, there will be bands, DJs, runway flag bearers and the occasional ticker-tape shower.
The PINS bar will be serving up camp-themed cocktails with highlights including the mango and chilli margarita with Patrón Silver Tequila, Piment d’Espelette liqueur, lime and pineapple juice and mango.
The Apple Pie Moonshine features bourbon, apple pie syrup, lime and apple juices with a toasted white foam. For those with a sweet tooth, the Rhubarb Rancher with rhubarb gin and banana liqueur topped with smashed Jolly Ranchers.
Slushies and sharers also feature on the menu and retro coolboxes will be available to order with bottle service to the table. Happy campers can even upgrade to a premium coolbox, which includes a bottle of Patrón and mixers to really get the party started. De de de de de de de de - tequila!
To soak up the alcohol - and make sure you don’t wake up the next day with the worst tequila story of your life (come on, we’ve all got one) - there will be a rooftop food menu brimming with traditional camp favourites, including a Louisiana chicken burger, buffalo and BBQ pizzas, and chicken tenders, all dished up with classic American sides and slaw.
PINS will offer all the usual games inside, including classic ten-pin bowling, English and American pool, shuffleboard, table tennis and beer pong.
Jamie Finn, general manager at PINS, said, “Summercamp is about igniting memories of hazy summer days and nostalgic good times, all whilst offering an exciting and varied event programme to keep customers entertained, day and night.
"We can’t wait to show off our new look and roster of events, the rooftop is going to be the place to be in Liverpool this summer”.
Entry to Summercamp is free but some specific events will require paid tickets which can be booked online at the PINS website.
