HE had plenty of reason to smile after last night's 3-0 drubbing of Manchester City. And today Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp was roaring with laughter - not under the floodlights of Anfield but under arc lights on Exchange Flags.

The Reds' boss had taken a break from filming a television commercial for Warsteiner, the German lager who signed him up as their poster boy in January.

"I associate with a tasty Warsteiner a piece of home,” Klopp says. “My grandparents had a small brewery and I appreciate the pleasure of a good beer.”

Keeping it in the family - well sort of - the location chosen for the one day ad shoot was Steven Gerrard's Vincent Cafe 


Ladies working in first floor offices surrounding the venue broke off from work to press their noses up against the windows to catch a glimpse of the certain-age heart-throb while teens posed for selfies outside the security cordon with their hero in the background. 

But it seems that's the first and last we'll see of the occasion - the advert will only be shown in Germany.

Nobody knows what was causing the merry Klopp to throw his head back and chortle - there was no foaming stein of beer in his hand (just a cheeky fag or did we imagine it?)

Warsteiner's slogan,  "Whatever it is you do, do it right", was clearly behind the decision to sign Klopp as their poster boy in January.  

After the up and down events of the last few days, there was perhaps only one collective mantra: "And breathe..."
