Beleaguered burger brand saved from extinction by former director

Almost Famous has been brought back from the brink thanks to an acquisition by the team behind PINS Social Club.

D2, owners of the bowling and games bar, have acquired the burger brand’s sites on Parr Street and Manchester's Northern Quarter after their sudden closure at the end of January, with former owner Beau Myers citing "the financial pressure stacked against us".

Seemingly not wasting any time, D2 has said they are due to reopen the Liverpool site on Monday 24th February and the Manchester site on Friday 21 February.

Leading the acquisition is D2’s new Managing Director, and former Operations Director at Almost Famous from 2018-2022, Daniel Kelly.

“We’re buzzing to get Almost Famous back - hire as many of the old team as we can, get the grills on and the burgers flying out,” said Kelly. “I’ve been part of this brand and I know what it takes to maintain its bigger, better, and make-it-outrageous approach.

“We’re here to bring back the legendary AF experience - killer service, next-level food, and all the chaotic, messy, unforgettable vibes that made Almost Famous, well… Famous.”

This follows the group having recently acquired the 60 Hope Street building in Liverpool to transform it into a ‘cosy pub’, The Dog and Collar, set to be headed up by local chef Livia Alarcon

There have also been recent rumours that the PINS team were looking at opening a Manchester site.
