Sampha, Loyle Carner and Giles Peterson amongst those playing the three-day festival, which features 75 acts

After a successful debut last year, World Island returns for its second instalment this bank holiday weekend (25-27 May), with over 75 acts and a new site in the heart of Leeds’ South Bank.

Held in a triSpan marquee, which will take over two car parks on Globe Road (minutes from Leeds train station, Water Lane Boathouse and Granary Wharf), the three-day fest promises some of Leeds’ finest DJs and some of the UK’s most exciting acts - as well as nosh aplenty from the likes of Patty Smiths, Manjit’s Kitchen and Soul Shack.

Mercury award-winner Sampha, Brit nominee Loyle Carter, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Jungle all hit this year’s the bill; while the reinvigorated British jazz scene will be championed by Giles Peterson, Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective and more. 

Daytime sees over 50 live acts perform across the weekend, while - come nightfall - World Island’s citywide takeover will feature 25 further acts across Leeds, from local talent like Nightmares on Wax and Bradley Zero to producer Romare. Held at venues spanning Belgrave Music Hall to Headrow House and Water Lane Boathouse, these after-parties are free for World Island ticket-holders.
