IF YOU'VE been gazing afield to London’s British Summertime Festival or Manchester’s Stone Roses reunion at the Etihad and getting a bit envious of the heritage acts other big cities are afforded, it’s your lucky day.  Roundhay Park has announced it’ll be hosting its first live concert in a decade, as part of the new OnRoundhay Festival.

Organising the event is veteran promoter Harvey Goldsmith -  the man responsible for bringing Madonna and The Rolling Stones to Roundhay

Nineties legends James and Primal Scream will be heading the bill at the family festival, as well as something for the young ‘uns in the form of breakthrough band Wolf Alice, who wowed Leeds Festival last year. Haggis Horns - the ensemble behind all of Mark Ronson’s brassy tendencies - will be appearing, as well as Iowan country star Max Jury.

Roundhay has a long legacy of hosting concerts from some of the biggest names in music, including the likes of U2, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and, er, Robbie Williams - the last act to play at the park back in 2006.

OnRoundhay Festival will also be backed by John Lewis, who are opening a flagship store in Leeds city centre later on this year. “We’re delighted to bring the unique mixture of great music, outstanding food and all round family fun that has made OnBlackheath such a success to the people of Leeds and the beautiful setting of Roundhay Park.” said Rachel Swift, Head of Brand Marketing. “We believe there’s no other festival like it and we are proud that John Lewis has been an integral part of its success”

There’s a focus on food as well as music, with the festival working with the team behind Leeds Indie Food festival on John Lewis’ Food Village, with street food, pop-ups, dining experiences, and big-name chef appearances and demonstrations.

OnRoundhay takes place on September 17th.  Tickets are available now via SeeTickets priced at £45 for adults, £100 for a family of 4, and free for children 12 and under.
