For eighteen consecutive Saturdays, street food traders will pitch up in North Brewing Co's taproom
CAN you smell summer in the air? Well maybe not just at this moment when you’re more likely to get a light dusting of snowflakes up your north, but you know what we mean… Eat North has announced its return for a second season.
For eighteen consecutive Saturdays from April 28 some of the finest street food around will be served up at award-winning North Brewing Co’s taproom. From the team behind Leeds Indie Food, it was the first weekly street food event hosted in the city.
Last year, the weekly fairs welcomed approximately 9,000 visitors across twelve weeks, featuring a monthly Veg North and special Hopulance editions (North Brewing Co.’s popular DJ night).
This year, from May 12-26, Eat North will also coincide with the fourth annual Leeds Indie Food, with a #LIF18 Special on the final Saturday of the festival which will host more traders than ever before.
From April 28 to August 25, a rotating line-up of traders will pitch up at the brewery every Saturday. With the brewery’s location not far from well-known independents such as Belgrave Music Hall, The Brunswick and The Reliance, the return of Eat North will reaffirm Leeds’ place on the street food map, alongside other Northern cities such as Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield, where such weekly events are increasingly popular.
Eat North provides an opportunity for street food veterans and first-time traders to showcase their latest menus to hungry punters and curious foodies. The monthly vegetarian edition (and the most popular of all the weeks), Veg North is the chance for traders to experiment with and trial new vegetarian dishes and this year will also see the inaugural Vegan North.
Alongside the food offering, there is award-winning craft beer on offer from North Brewing Co, such as their Transmission IPA, which was named the UK’s Best IPA at Imbibe Live in 2017. Each week also features DJs, outdoor games and the street food fair is family-friendly and dog-friendly.
The line-up for the first five weeks is confirmed, with over 30 different street food traders signing on to serve up everything from Latin American arepas to Kenyan barbecue, plus speciality coffee and sweet options available.
