The food festival returns to Halifax's glorious Piece Hall in May, July and August

Here’s some news to get the summer excitement growing and the chins wobbling: Chow Down food festival is back at Halifax’s Piece Hall for three bumper weekends of eating, drinking and being merry.

Last year saw over 120,000 people drop in across the events and the aim this year is to top that, so Chow Down and LIF founder Simon Fogal is pulling out all the stops to add even more to the already-full-to-bursting line-up.

The 2019 events run from May 24th-27th, July 26th-28th and August 23rd-26th

He obviously felt it was too good an event not to resurrect, as he explained, “We loved Chow Down last year, and by the looks of the footfall, so did all of our guests! So, we thought it was only right to bring it back for 2019.”

So, what’s the craic this year? Well, if you were lucky enough to pop down in 2018, you’ll know to expect live music and masses of food and drink independents, with pop-ups representing cuisine from all over the world covering all kinds of tastes and diets - and then some.

And to make sure that everyone has a chance to sample all the tasty delights, the May and August events span four – yes, four – days, including the immensely popular August Bank Holiday.

But even if you’ve somehow booked yourself up for all three weekends already, there’s still a chance to get some of the Chow Down action, as this year the event is packing up its bags and going on tour to Lincoln Castle for Easter weekend and the final weekend in June.

So, if you’re looking to get your annual dose of cocktails in the sun and more food than you can shake your own belly at, then head on over to the website and start planning your trip.

Chow Down will run for three weekends in 2019: May 24th/25th/26th/27th; July 26th/27th/28th; August 23rd/24th/25th/26th
