Midday menus relaunched
PARTIAL to a good plateful of Gusto food, we are, and especially so when we can also enjoy a bargain. Weekday lunchtimes therefore tick all our boxes, with two courses just £12.95 and three courses £14.95, Monday to Friday 12 noon until 5pm.
There’s plenty to choose from, with five choices of starters, seven mains and four sweets all vying for our attention. Soups, salads and sandwiches are involved, alongside light options like fishcakes and pâté on artisan bread, and bigger portions, such as the famous Gusto burger and their take on cauli’mac’n’cheese.
Cheese is a bit of a thing for us, so we kicked off our lunchtime foray with the toma bastoni – breaded Italian cheese lightly fried and served with a vibrant tomato coulis. This we followed with a mozzarella and prosciutto arrosto en carrozza – a posh toasty (we told you we like cheese), with pesto accompaniment. For our other main, we went down the fish route, netting the pan-fried sea bass fillet served on a bed of wilted creamed spinach and a side of tasty baked rosemary and garlic potatoes.
We didn’t have much room for afters (plus we had to hotfoot it back to the office), so we shared a portion of bombolini – mini doughnuts with chocolate sauce and orange cream. Boy, was it worth it.
