Guests and chefs discover the estate and its produce at new "Hidden Harewood" events

A new supper club is launching this September which will give guests the chance to discover hidden corners of Harewood House and its estate usually unseen by the general public.

Harewood has been home to the Lascelles family since 1738, when the grounds were designed by Lancelot “Capability” Brown (what a name), and has a long history of sourcing and producing food from its fertile and hospitable land, from heritage vegetables and wild game.

With Harewood House becoming more synonymous with days out and camper van shows in recent years, Harewood Food and Drink Project is a new initiative set up by Eddy Lascelles, to create and showcase the seasonal, sustainable and sought-after produce and experiences that the estate can provide, by collaborating with other Yorkshire talent on experimental projects.

Hidden Harewood sets out to be an ‘immersive dining experience’ where guests will be guided through an exploration of Harewood, stopping along the way to work their way through a tasting menu in completely unique surroundings, usually off-limits to the general public.

The first event takes place on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 September, with a menu conceived and cooked by rising star Josh Whitehead, the former MasterChef: The Professionals contestant currently cooking at Ox Club (check out our interview with Josh where we talk about everything from cooking around France to foam bananas).

The events are intimate and thorough - each 25-person service takes a minimum of three hours, and some of the locations will be out doors, so guests need to be prepared for a little bit of adventure, and probably a fair bit of mud, so don’t forget your wellies.

Tickets for 6pm and 7pm on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 September are available now to Harewood members from harewood.com priced at £60 per person, which includes the tasting menu and two drinks. The tasting menu can be altered to suit vegetarians.
