PROFESSOR GREEN has been announced as one of the headliners in this year’s Liverpool Sound City.

The three-day international music, media and technology conference and gig fest, returns in May, but not before organisers have spread their wings.

Following on from festivals in Norway and Dubai, The inaugural New York Sound City takes place next month and further international shows are to be announced.

David PichilingiDavid PichilingiProfessor Green’s debut album, Alive Till I’m Dead, spawned four hit singles - I Need You Tonight, Just Be Good To Green, Monster and Jungle – which racked up ver 500,000 sales.

His second album is due for release this summer and he will be premiering tracks from it at Liverpool Sound City.

Professor Green say’s "Liverpool is always a highlight of any tour so I'm delighted to be able to confirm Liverpool Sound City. I can't wait to get back there. Liverpool! Let’s have it!

Other acts announced are Texan four-piece White Denim and Death Vegas but there will be hundreds more.

Sound City will also host the UK Music Student Awards at the Echo Arena on May 17.   Launched by George Martin, the awards are in collaboration with Access To Music and are hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Edith Bowman.

Another event, Sound City Expo, takes its inspiration from the golden age of expos, where the new, the innovative and the exciting were brought together under one roof. Organisers say this  event will bring the newest and most forward-thinking exhibitors to the arena, providing access for both consumers and music/digital professionals to the people, tools and services they will need as we move ever onwards in the digital age.

Liverpool Sound City started as a fringe event in 2007 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.

LSC Supremo Dave Pichilingi, who was recently granted the licence to run the Epstein/Neptune Theatre, said:  "We're taking Sound City to whole new level this year by bringing in Access To Music and co-hosting the UK Music Student Awards, which shows our commitment to the new breed of musicians and those who work in the music industry, as well as being a great excuse for a party."
