THE Queen's 90th birthday will be celebrated throughout the realm in May, and in Liverpool that means a special gala concert in the Great Hall of St. Georges Hall.
Expect top talent, Elton John and Beatles tunes, songs from the shows and a rare chance to experience one of the biggest organs in Europe.
Alas Her Maj will be elsewhere..
"The city will celebrate, along with the rest of the Commonwealth, this great achievement with a very special Gala Concert in the magnificent Great Hall," it says here.
"You will be thrilled to the sound of the Great Organ, one of the largest in Europe and be blown away by a spectacular finale – the hall promises a wonderful afternoon of joy and celebration."
The longest reigning monarch in British history will be saluted with songs from Alexander’s Ragtime Band through to the jazz era and World War II.
"The spectacular programme will include song, music and dance from the nine decades, performed by some the region's greatest performers including Northop Silver Band, Haydock Male Voice Choir, classical soloist Stephanie Guidera plus some up and coming young dancers and singing talent."
Alan Smith – St George’s Hall supremo, said: “The hall has always been the focus of such momentous occasions and it is wonderful to be able to provide a concert that also reflects the sound track to the decades the Queen has reigned."
Tickets are priced at £15 each and can be purchased from TicketQuarter. The concert is free to anyone who turns 90 years of age in 2016 on production of ID.
