Sniffing out the authentic, and Castle Street gem Spice Thai has it all – fragrant Pad Thai, rich Gang Massaman curry, six choices of tasty sauce for that deep-fried sea bass, and fiery Udon Kee Mao, aka “drunken noodles” – traditionally eaten at the end of a big night out to keep that hangover at bay.
It’s also home to the signature dish Weeping Tiger: marinated sirloin steak served on a sizzling platter with veggies in oyster sauce, rice and homemade chilli jaew dip. Not hungry, not a problem – the friendly vibe and contemporary surroundings are the perfect backdrop to a drink, and owners Michael and Noon are happy to serve up their house cocktails in the bar area.
