As you’d expect, there’s an exceptional wine list, featuring an impressive selection by the glass as well as classic cocktails, expertly done, and a good range of bottled and draught beer.
The food is relaxed but intelligent. There is a short selection of well-made mains whilst sandwiches and burgers are lifted to another level by the quality of the produce and deft touches like the chermoula marinade in the chicken wrap.
There are excellent vegan options too like the aubergine katsu curry and the courgette bhaji sandwich – this last one is a particular Confidentials favourite.
It’s located in the Grade II Listed City Buildings on Old Hall Street so it is as full of character as a 2015 vintage Beaujolais.
