Contemporary Asian-inspired restaurant launches in Liverpool City Centre

It seems that a global pandemic isn’t going to get too much in the way of Liverpool’s ever expanding dining and drinking scene. This week alone we’ve already let you know about an upcoming juice bar on Bold Street and a new axe throwing venue opening in the city.

Things sometimes come in threes, so here’s another new venue to add to your ‘to visit’ list.

with so much support from the city already, we know we are creating something really special, and we are ready to give you a warm welcome

Local entrepreneur and restaurateur Chris Brown has used his experience and drive to put together his very own ‘dream team’ to help launch the Asian-inspired restaurant Wonton To Go on Ranelagh Street by Central Station.

Chris is a well known name in the city for his excellent endeavours through his Gourmet Social project, a community interest company that helps sustain holiday hunger for local children and young people, which has been especially busy in recent months. Based in North Liverpool, Chris and his team have been collaborating with established charities such as the LEGO Foundation, through healthy meal provision, with the aim of being fully sustainable in the future, and the desire to take the concept forward for further venues.

Wonton To Go has been developed as a concept over recent months and through hard work, dedication, and much support from friends, family, Liverpool City Council and local communities, it is now ready to go in its own right. Chris has put together a collective whereby every detail has seen Liverpool-based, often youthful, super-skilled personnel involved. From the industrial lighting, to the restaurant’s logo, to the locally influenced Asian-style menu, Chris has been determined to build a restaurant that has a vibe influenced by the city’s richly diverse cultural settings.

Chris has also been enthusiastic about creating a relaxed, independent, cosmopolitan space where people can pop in for something simple to a whole delight of dishes. From the restaurant’s signature char siu wonton noodle soup to its special fried rice, with its own unique special sauce, the culinary team are getting creative and introducing new ways with traditional favourites, including vegan options, delightful desserts such as Vietnamese Egg Coffee (topped with grated dark chocolate) and fine gourmet coffee on hand at all times. Health is at the heart of everything the team is achieving, too, with taste at the forefront of their mindful approach.

Wonton To Go’s influence has grown in a short time, with 7,000 followers on Instagram, impressed with the team’s socially aware and conscious attitude, as well as food that has already been in demand for delivery, now becoming available in a defined space that’s all about simply refined dishes in a contemporary setting, couple with a chance to relax, knowing that the contribution of every customer also goes to helping a really rewarding cause.

With 38 covers upstairs and just under 20 downstairs the restaurant opens its doors with plenty of summer still to enjoy, the staff are working within government guidelines to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers, who can then sit back and enjoy everything Wonton To Go has to offer. As Chris Brown says, “I am already proud of what we have achieved so far, and this new restaurant is all about being inspired by authentic Asian cuisine, which is also respectful of its reputation in this wonderful city. My team has come together from diverse, experienced backgrounds and with so much support from the city already, we know we are creating something really special, and we are ready to give you a warm welcome, with great food and an atmosphere that will see you return to us again.
