Let's get mashed in Allerton
After celebrating ten years on Bold Street, LEAF is not one to rest on its laurels – so is opening another venue and tea house on Smithdown Road in Allerton.
Taking a lead from its city sister, er, branch, on Bold Street, LEAF on Smithdown will offer a varied menu running through from breakfast to evening, serving over 60 varieties of loose-leaf tea, and offering the same unique mix of music, good times and inspiring community hub atmosphere.
We’re really excited to take LEAF to the vibrant neighbourhood of Allerton and Smithdown – an area where we spent our childhoods
The independent LEAF micro-chain began as a small teashop run by friends in a Liverpool city centre gallery in 2007 and now includes the Bold Street venue, which opened in 2010, Water Street’s Oh Me Oh My, One Fine Day on Old Hall Street, The Garden by LEAF at FACT, plus LEAF on Portland Street in Manchester.
The team are delighted to announce the newest addition, setting up LEAF on Smithdown in the old Hatton's model shop (don’t worry, you can still get your miniature rolling stock online or over in Widnes). Having been on the lookout for a new site away from the city centre for a number of years, and with the company directors born and bred in the area, it was the perfect location and an unmissable opportunity.
Just prior to opening the doors last week, Natalie Haywood, founder of LEAF, said: “We’re so excited that the transformation of this iconic site is almost complete, and we’re chuffed with our new home. Housed in the former Hattons train shop, we’re really excited to take LEAF to the vibrant neighbourhood of Allerton and Smithdown – an area where we spent our childhoods and a place we really care about.”
LEAF on Smithdown will work with a lot of the same suppliers as LEAF on Bold Street, bringing a focus on ethical, diverse and wholesome produce out to the suburbs.
