HERBERT Howe announced today (Friday, March 30) he is pulling out of the race to be elected mayor of Liverpool.
His withdrawal comes just two days after a champagne launch at the Hilton in Liverpool One.

"Somebody said to me they will find skeletons in your cupboard," added Herbert, saying he wouldn't like to be put into the horrendous position of "doing a job for others to destroy what he was trying to do".
Herbert had planned a campaign bus to tour Liverpool, with aircraft flying overhead and trailing banners proclaiming his pledges.
He would have brough colour and attention to the mayoral campaign, and some will thilnk his excursion into the political arena was too short.
