I TOOK my niece and nephew to Yellow Sub during the Easter Holidays and they couldn't wait to get back to school and tell all their friends about the adventures they'd had. That may sound strange but Yellow Sub is somewhere that's well worth talking about.

There's a massive play frame, a football arena, arcade games, a toddler area and even a candy floss machine. What's not to love?

They hurtled round the play frame in a giggling blur, just the occasional giddy wave proving they remembered my existence

We arrived and I chose a table near the play area where I could relax with a coffee whilst keeping an eye on proceedings. Not that there was anything to worry about. Once fortified with a Fruit Shoot each, the kids were off. They hurtled round the play frame in a giggling blur, just the occasional giddy wave proving they remembered my existence.

With four floors of hectic fun, the play frame was a winner. The brightly-coloured tunnels, swing ropes and punch bags to run through put me in mind of a sugar-coated Krypton Factor assault course for kids. I wouldn't have minded a go on the climbing nets myself.

The slides were the unanimous favourite. My nephew plumped for the green and yellow swirly slide whilst my nine-year old niece gave her vote to the enormous blue four-in-a-row slides which she raced down again and again with her friend.

Other big hits were the games arcade, the astro turf football area and the maze although my personal favourite was the café – illy coffee and proper food prepared by people who care about what they do.

For lunch, I chose the Greek feta wrap which was really tasty and the children all devoured their pizzas with gusto. Made properly with a crispy base, Neapolitan-style, their pizzas were generously loaded with toppings and were as lovely as the adult pizzas, but smaller.

And who could resist ice-cream? Their huge selection of flavours, arrayed in glorious technicolour, were delicious. We may be back to try the rest of the flavours in the near future. The kids still bubble over with excitement whenever they talk about Yellow Sub so a return visit is definitely on the cards.
