The TV chef has taken alfresco drinking and dining to new heights with the new rooftop terrace
Launched late last month at INNSiDE by Meliá, the Gino D’Acampo Sky Bar Terrace is Liverpool’s highest alfresco restaurant and bar standing at just over 270 feet.
The new development comes as part of a £300,000 investment towards alfresco dining at INNSiDE Liverpool following the reopening of the 170-cover Secret Garden which re-opened in May 2023.
On clearer days, those dining and drinking will be able to see as far as North Wales
You’ll find the Sky Bar Terrace on the south side of the hotel, running the full-length of the impressive adjoining Sky Bar on the 18th floor, offering stunning views of the city’s skyline. It looks out across the River Mersey, providing the opportunity to see working boats and even cruise liners sail by.
The neolith stone cocktail bar has enough seating for up to 37 people at a time, giving unrivalled views of Liverpool from each and every position. On clearer days, those dining and drinking will be able to gaze at North Wales.
A visit at Sky Bar Terrace is accompanied by a carefully curated playlist and guests can take advantage of luxury blankets to keep them warm after the sun goes down. After the terrace closes, guests are invited to continue their evening in the Sky Bar with resident DJs spinning tracks until late into the night.
We were invited down to see it for ourselves, take in the spectacular views, and try the wine and cicchetti menu, of course.
We tried three dishes from the cicchetti menu: garlic and rosemary potatoes (£7.50); spinach and ricotta ravioli with sage butter and pine nuts (£12); and the Italian artisan cured meats, salami and cheeses (£29 - designed to be shared between 2-3 people). A delightful selection of light sharing dishes which we enjoyed over a bottle of house rosé.
The charcuterie and cheese platter was beautifully presented on a three-tier stand and came with artisanal breads and dips. The spinach and ricotta ravioli came in a portion of three large pieces and was well seasoned, made from fresh pasta and served slightly al dente for added texture. As for the garlic and rosemary potatoes these were perfectly cooked, nicely crispy.
Between 4-6pm daily, the bar runs their ‘Spritz hour’ offering special discounts on three of the classic Italian cocktails; Aperol spritz, Campari blood orange spritz and Negroni Sbagliato. Guests who visit during ‘Aperitivo time’ (5-7pm) can enjoy a complimentary selection of cicchetti to accompany their drinks.
The Sky Bar Terrace is open seven days a week between 12-11pm weather permitting and can also be hired for private events such as birthdays and intimate gatherings. Should the weather take a turn for the worst, guests can still enjoy the views of the outdoors from inside the sleek and modern Sky Lounge with 360 degree views of Liverpool. Bookings can be made via the website or by calling 0151 832 4517 and are highly encouraged to avoid disappointment.
