There seems to be a real clutch of exciting food and drink events happening in Liverpool at the moment. Here is a round up of places to go, things to do, food to eat and drink to, er, drink.

Pilgrim at Duke Street Market

BBC Million Pound Menu winners Pilgrim will be launching their much-anticipated Duke Street Market restaurant on May 15th with a 50% off soft launch period. Inspired by ancient pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Pilgrim aims to be more than just another typical Spanish restaurant.

Small sharing plates (from £9 to £12) will feature seasonal, ethically sourced regional produce with a big focus on fired flavour. There’ll also be a four-course tasting menu option at £35. The centerpiece of the 40 cover restaurant will be an open fire kitchen, cooking up dishes including wood-roasted pork chop and fennel emulsion, char-grilled sardines with black olive crumb, scallops with smoked butter and barbecued octopus tentacle with guindilla pepper salsa (pictured above). Desserts and bar snacks will also be available, along with an extensive drinks menu including more than fifty rotating wines, more than thirty vermouths, port and Spanish sherries and creative ‘taptails’ (cocktails on tap.)

The soft launch period will be between May 15-19th with a 50% discount on food (no bookings available for this period), with the restaurant available for bookings from May 22nd.
