LIVERPOOL’S night sky will be illuminated next week as the city celebrates all things 2012, but, like last year, it's all dark in the north end.
This year’s free 5 November fireworks displays will take place on Mondayat Newsham Park and SeftonPark.
Starting at 7.30pm, the displays will celebrate major world events which our isle has mounted this year: the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and the Paralympics and thus will last about 20 minutes.
The fireworks will be synchronised to a soundtrack which combines modern and classical tracks.
Visitors to the displays are advised to travel on foot or use public transport, leaving plenty of time to travel to the fireworks.
There is limited accessible parking a Croxteth Drive, Sefton Park and Gardners Drive at Newsham Park.
Those attending the events are asked not to bring their own fireworks.
Liverpool city council’s cabinet member for culture and tourism, Councillor Wendy Simon, said: “Liverpool’s fireworks displays always have the wow factor, and this year is going to be extra special as we pay homage to all the fantastic events which have taken place in 2012.
“These displays are also a safe way to enjoy bonfire night and we always encourage people to attend one of the many organised events taking place across the city.”
Members of the public are being asked to make sure they don’t leave potentially flammable material lying around, and not to give young people timber or other combustible materials for use on bonfires.
