IT might be grim up on north - at least when we're talking Liverpool docks - but bleak industrial landscapes have alaways held a certain je ne sais quoi for those in the music business.
And while the imagined skyscrapers of Liverpool Waters remain just that, there is plenty of empty space on the waterfront, towards Bootle, crying out for a crowd in a place where no one can hear you scream.
Liverpool Sound City, which relocated to Bramley Moor Dock in 2014, is already fully aware of the desolate area's potential, as are the Kazimier crew who made the area their home with the Invisible Wind Factory.
There is also talk that the listed Tate & Lyle sugar silo has been bought by a high profile Liverpool architect and developer long associated with the club and culture scene....
And as for Everton Football Club, who's saying?
In the meantime, where better to stage a massive knees up with Axwell & Ingrosso, one of the world's biggest electronic acts, in a super structure holding 10,000 people.
This year's Creamfields drew a 70,000 flock of festival-goers to Daresbury, Cheshire, for one of the biggest weekends in the festival calendar. Top of the bill was the Steel Yard, a big bugger, 20 metres high, and the largest thing of its kind in Europe.
Now it's being rebuilt on the Central Docks for the gig on Saturday 26th November. It doesn't say where, exactly, but a dock is a dock, innit?
"'The Steel Yard presents Axwell & Ingrosso' is the first of a series of special events planned ahead of the festival's 20th anniversary celebrations in 2017 and sees the return of the Creamfields brand to its spiritual home in over a decade," it says here.
Multi-billion pound Peel Holdings, which owns the land, the Port of Liverpool, John Lennon Airport and the Trafford Centre, seems to want Cream up there for good.
Ian Pollitt, assistant project director at Liverpool Waters, said: "Steel Yard is a really innovative concept and having it at Central Docks in Liverpool Waters, so close to the river, will make it a truly memorable experience for everyone attending. I am delighted that we are working with Cream and able to find them a place on the waterfront, which I hope will become their regular venue for years to come'.
