Yard & Coop's holds finger licking' data capture day

They call it the Big Chook Off - a day of nothing but freebie chicken and fries for all who turn up.

On Wednesday 25 October, chicken chain Yard & Coop, the "Home of Buttermilk Fried Chicken" will be swinging open its Hanover Street doors and is inviting everyone to grab themselves some chicken and chips, "all completely for free throughout the entire day."

But as the old saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch - and that applies just as pertinently in the digital marketing age.

"To receive your free plate of buttermilk fried chicken and chips, all customers need to do is sign up to Yard & Coop database, this can be done on their website or in the restaurant on the day," it says here.

Anyhow, Yard & Coop wants to reach its record of 1,000 pieces of chicken. It says: "The Big Chook Off gives every single person in Liverpool, from families, couples, businesses to students and tourists the chance to stock up, tuck in and get involved with some of the best chicken in the North West."

Every single person? They do know there's more than 1,000 people here, right?

Maybe they do. "The Big Chook Off starts at 12pm Wednesday 25 October. Yard & Coop will be providing one piece of buttermilk chicken and chips per person. Yard & Coop will be providing 1,000 free pieces of chicken on the day, once it’s gone, it’s gone."

On the day, Yard & Coop says it will be collecting money for the Whitechapel Centre, with the restaurant doubling the money raised from diners on the day.

Laura Morris, co-owner of Yard & Coop, says: “This October, the team at Yard & Coop will be donating all the money raised to White Chapel Centre (sic), a local homeless charity in the city. Feeding Liverpool free chicken for the day is amazing, but this time we want to make sure that absolutely everyone from the city gets to benefit from our Big Chook Off.”
