BUSABA, the award winning Thai restaurant favourite of old London town, has revealed it is opening in Hanover Street in March.

The news comes hot on the heels of Busaba’s Manchester launch last night - the first time the brand has ventured outside the capital. There it has grown to 12 branches since its 1999 inception in Soho’s Wardour Street.

The “ultimate Bangkok dining experience” was founded by Alan Yau OBE who is also the man behind Wagamama and leading London Chinese restaurants Hakkasan and Yauatcha, which have each earned a Michelin Star.

Inspired, it says, by the Old Oriental Hotel in Bangkok and traditional Buddhist values, Busaba Eatthai Liverpool is throwing its doors open on March 14, 2016 – “a special leap year treat for the city”.

The 5,400 sq foot space, in gold, copper and blue,  has been designed by Russell Sage Studio, with 144 covers influenced by traditional Thai architecture, furniture, textiles, joinery and modern day Bangkok. It will create 50 jobs.

Grosvenor’s Liverpool One has been vigorously marketing Hanover Street to the big restaurant brands as it climbs further up the Ropewalks.  New arrivals last year included Wahaca, and Reds True Barbecue with a second Turtle Bay scheduled to open at Easter.

Jason Myers, Busaba CEO said:“We're extremely excited to be bringing the Busaba restaurant experience to Liverpool; this will be our second restaurant in the North West for 2016.  We have heard much about the success of Liverpool One, which put it at the top of our list as we sought the location for our next restaurant, so look forward to welcoming in the people of Liverpool to sample the true taste of modern Bangkok.

The Busaba menu includes best selling Thai Calamari and Pad Thai and, of course, expect plenty of Thai curries made with Busaba's own recipe curry pastes developed in association with Michelin Star chef David Thompson.  On the bar, a range of Thai teas’, Thai inspired juices, signature cocktails, local and far-away beers and more, will all be on offer.
