World-renowned art installation to celebrate brighter days ahead

Royal Albert Dock will light up in celebration of brighter days ahead this month as the Borealis art installation comes to Liverpool.

A world-renowned recreation of The Northern Lights, Borealis will illuminate Hartley Quay from Thursday 20 March to Sunday 30 March and visitors can visit free every evening to take in the spectacle.

Created by artist Dan Archer, the installation combines state of the art technology including light beams and cloud particles to create the illusion of the famous phenomena that thousands travel to Scandinavia annually to witness.

It lands in Liverpool following exhibitions in cities across the globe including Melbourne, Paris and Tokyo, with the installation even gaining a permanent space in Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay Supertree Grove.

Accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois, the installation was created as a symbol of seasonal change and a reminder to look to brighter days ahead following the long Northern European winter.

In starting on 20 March it begins with the first day of Spring and ends with the start of the British Summer time on 30 March.
