Liverpool gets the Oktober festivities underway a day early
AN authentic Bavarian bierhall-style Oktoberfest is coming to town for the first time, and we’re in luck as it’s a day early. Pours come courtesy the big Munich breweries, with taps from Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner and Spaten being unveiled at Albert’s Schenke on Thursday 19 September - a day EARLIER than in Germany itself.
Albert’s Schenke is offering punters a unique opportunity to sample the big six before anyone else
Only open since July (reviewed here), Liverpool’s first 'Bier Halle & Cook Haus' Albert’s Schenke is offering punters a unique opportunity to sample the big six before anyone else. Its inaugural Oktoberfest runs for a full fortnight until Thursday 3 October (hence the name). Sip by schooner or stein, pick up a pint or bagsy a bier flight, with a taster of each of the German brews.
Expect lederhosen-clad staff, Oktoberfest-themed games and bierkeller-inspired piano sessions – plus a free stein to anyone who comes to the Schenke wearing traditional Bavarian dress.
It’s first come, first served, and Albert’s Schenke will be offering all guests who pre-book for the festivities drinks 'on the haus': either a pint of one of the six official Oktoberfest biers or a special Schenke Cocktail in the form of a Porn Star Martini.
