The restaurant is operated by the team behind fine dining spot The Art School

Barnacle has announced that it will be opening its first standalone restaurant in the city, having brought the concept to Liverpool’s food scene in 2021, operating from Duke Street Market for a few years before running its current pop-up site at Albert Dock

Barnacle will move into a Grade II-listed building on Hardman Street, which was previously The Florist and originally Liverpool’s School for the Blind.

The bar and lobby is set to open on 27 September ahead of the restaurant’s grand opening in October.

The restaurant, owned by Paul Askew of The Art School fame, will be operated by Paul’s son Harry Askew, with Head Chef Kieran Gill bringing a new lease of life to the formerly empty site.
