Yes the annual glittery bash to mark the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards has once again taken place at St George’s Hall.

And ticking all the boxes one more time in the best bar category was West Kirby’s Wro Bar. Nominee newcomer Salt Dog Slims missed out but was highly commended.

A total of 18 awards were handed out in what organisers called "a celebration of an outstanding year for the region’s visitor economy" - all in conjunction with Liverpool One shops.

Eryl Parry from Liverpool Cathedral was honoured for her outstanding contribution to tourism in the region. Eryl, who will soon retire from her role as director of enterprise at God’s biggest house in the UK, was awarded for her "dedication to the industry" (tourism) over the past 15 years.

The People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Liverpool City Council, went to The Southport Air Show.

Last year’s Three Queens spectacular took home the Large Tourism Event of the Year Award for Cunard's memorable marketing weekend that saw the arrival of its three luxury flagships to the River Mersey and millions of people lining the river.

Catering for the evening was provided by The Yacht Club and supported by students from City of Liverpool College.

Hillsborough wasn’t forgotten as The Christians took to the stage to perform their charity single Big Red Sky to pay tribute to the 96 who lost their lives in the disaster.
