Castle Street seems the perfect spot for a city that loves a bit of glamour
Here it is finally, The Ivy, and long overdue.
Never was there a city more deserving of the sort of maximalist glamour that The Ivy provides than Liverpool.
People just care about their hair more here.
I attended the launch on Thursday (14 November) and the minute I turned onto Castle Street I was blinded by a cascade of lights off a long-disused bank building with paparazzi outside and thought ‘Wow they really mean it’.
It’s a perfect marriage; an establishment based on the idea of bonhomie and a people that make it their business to be good conversation.

Now as of yesterday (Tuesday 19 November) The Ivy Brasserie is open, and as well as its midweek 1917 menu, with two courses costing £19.17, will also be serving its festive menu.
This will include the likes of whiskey barrel smoked venison tartare, goose, turkey and duck Shepherd’s Pie, foraged wild mushroom and truffle linguine and the Turkey Ballotine, complete with apricot, cranberry and pork stuffing, pigs in blankets, and truffle sauce.
Kate Keyes, General Manager at The Ivy Brasserie, said: “The Ivy team has been working so hard behind the scenes to create an iconic venue for Liverpool to enjoy and we’re so excited to open the doors today and share our dining experience with this special city.
"From beautiful interiors to our signature dishes, we’re delighted to welcome our first guests to enjoy what we have to offer in this fantastic city. Liverpool has welcomed us with open arms and now it’s time for us to deliver the signature Ivy experience of excellent service, delicious food and special cocktails at our stunning bar.”
