ITALIAN small plates restaurant, Polpo, has announced that their residency at Harvey Nichols has come to and end, less than half a year after opening.
After testing the water at Harvey Nichols, POLPO is now looking for a new and permanent site in Leeds
The fourth-floor concession was the first northern outpost for the chain - part of Russel Norman's restaurant empire - when it opened in February of this year.
The last day of trading will be 31 July, so you've still got chance this week to pop in for fritto misto, rabbit pappardelle, or pork and fennell meatballs.
It's not all doom and gloom though - our sources tell us that they'll be back with their own bricks and mortar set-up as soon as they can find a suitable spot.
“This was the restaurant group’s first site in the north of England, and Leeds has embraced the Venetian-inspired menu and aesthetic," said a representative. "After testing the water at Harvey Nichols, POLPO is now looking for a new and permanent site in Leeds."
As for the vacant lot on the fourth-floor, previously occupied by Yo! Sushi, the future remains an exciting mystery, for now: “Harvey Nichols is always looking to bring new and innovative experiences to the fourth floor and will shortly be announcing the launch of the next residency,” a representative from the company assured us.
Confidential has also heard rumours that the vacancy has piqued the interest of a certain upmarket grill concept, who have been looking for a more intimate venue following the announced closure of their Manchester site.
We'll bring you updates as we hear them...
