The menu is being designed by Masterchef's Josh Whitehead, using food from the Harewood estate
If you were lucky enough to go to one of the Harewood Food and Drink Project’s 'Hidden Harewood' evenings on the estate last year, then you’ll already know that they’re worth keeping an eye on.
The good news is that between October 28th to January 29th, they’re bringing the flavour right into the heart of Leeds, as Northern Monk’s next taproom kitchen residents.
With a menu crafted by executive chef Josh Whitehead of Masterchef: The Professionals and Ox Club fame, expect food to be caught, picked and foraged directly from the Harewood estate, including some show-stopping lamb, beef and venison.
Josh will be designing the menu to complement the array of craft beers served at the Northern Monk taproom and will also be exploring the possibility of using beer waste in cooking as part of the sustainability drive that is at the heart of the Harewood Food and Drink project.
The two Leeds companies have also come together to design a beer, which will be available in the taproom for the length of Josh and his team’s stay. This will Northern Monk’s first wet hop beer, using hops freshly picked from the Harewood estate with no treatment or drying. The as-yet-unnamed beer will be part of the Northern Monk “Evolution of Tradition” series.
If you want to get down to Northern Monk and sample some of the best beer and food that Leeds has to offer, you can book a table by emailing bookings@northernmonk.com or calling the refectory on 0113 243 0003.

Today we spent the morning at @HarewoodHouse, harvesting hops for our collaboration brew with @HarewoodFandDP. This will be our very first 100% wet hop beer, and together with the team at Harewood, we harvested over 30kg of Goldings, Fuggle, Challenger and Northdown hops. #Leeds pic.twitter.com/rMOV5RIb2b
