Artisan produce and late-night dining in a sustainable setting

After months of renovations, thanks to a £4 million pound investment from owner Graham Watson, Crimple Hall now stands as one of the largest sites of its kind in the U.K.

Boasting a well established garden centre, gift shop, cafe and bistro, Crimple Hall has been a popular destination for day trippers since opening its doors in 2013. Situated just south of Harrogate on the banks of Crimple Beck at Pannal, the brand new site, incorporating a 160 cover restaurant and food hall, spans 20, 000sq ft.

The menu will celebrate the very best of the regions produce, with chef’s tables and late-night dining planned for early next year

The venue has been attentively designed by award winning architects ArkleBoyce who’s headquarters are based in Leeds. Known for their design focussed approach to heritage buildings and rural landscapes, ArkleBoyce has worked closely with the team at Crimple Hall to ensure sustainability has been at the forefront of the project.

An environmentally-friendly project

The angular timber cladding seamlessly harmonises with the surrounding environment, each interconnecting barn-like form referencing the agricultural traditions of the area. An engineering plant has been constructed to balance internal temperature with natural ventilation through the roof, and solar panels powering the site's grid.

Refrigeration equipment has been carefully assembled to maintain efficiency, with water for the entire space powered by specialised heat recovery systems. Even the shopping bags are made from locally grown potatoes.

Only the best produce

With Zak Jones stepping in as the restaurant's Director, you can guarantee a high quality food and drink offering seven days a week. Zak, whose catering credentials include stints at Quo Vadis and Marco Pierre White’s Escargot, is the previous owner of Clerkenwell Dining Room, and The Chancery in London. The menu will celebrate the very best of the region's produce, with chef’s tables and late-night dining planned for early next year.

The Food Hall itself will feature over fifty artisan producers, from coffee roasted by Dark Woods in Slaithwaite, to gin distilled up the road with Harrogate’s curative spring water.

A local success story

This is not the first family-run restaurant and farm shop development to emerge over the last year, with growing numbers of people seeking inspiration for their home and garden. Zak was also behind the food and beverage sector at Moss & Moor’s lifestyle-led garden centre in Ilkley, which opened to much acclaim in March.

Crimple Hall is set to employ over sixty staff in the area, boosting the local economy and maximising the potential of natures larder on its doorstep. At just forty minutes outside of Leeds, this is a food hall experience you won’t want to miss this Autumn.
