Two For Joy is supporting The Christie with £10 donations from every t-shirt sold
Fashion’s famed preference for aesthetics over ethics is slowly changing. From the rise of more sustainable brands, to more diverse model castings, to fast fashion retailers finally making small steps towards a cruelty-free offering, the face of fashion is transitioning, albeit slowly, into a kinder industry.
Manchester brand Two For Joy shares this concern for kinder clothes. While sustainable style is at its core, the ethical label has launched a new initiative for SS18 with T-shirts designed to support The Christie: £10 of sales from every £25 T-shirt will go directly to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust’s pioneering cancer treatment and research.
The two T-shirts, named Hope and Together, are made from 100% certified organic cotton in a relaxed fit and feature inspiring slogan motifs. The campaign hopes to raise £7,000 for the cause.
Fashion with ethics is the foundation of Manchester brand Two For Joy's offering. The label launched just over two years ago, with a mission to create more transparency in the fashion industry through sharing supply chain details with customers. Materials are responsibly sourced, fairly priced and designed to transcend the seasons to offer an ethical alternative to fast fashion.
So many people are directly affected by cancer, it’s crucial that they [The Christie] carry on doing such an amazing job
Sarah Jerath, founder of Two For Joy, was inspired to support The Christie’s world-renowned cancer treatment centre in Withington after a family loss.
“Having lost my mum to breast cancer at eighteen, and my dad and other people close to me having suffered from cancer, I really wanted to do something for The Christie as the work it does is incredibly important to me and so many others,” Jerath explains.
“Donating money from the sales of the two slogan T-shirts is a simple way to support this worthy cause that helps so many people in Greater Manchester and the UK."
Danielle Carney, Corporate Fundraising Manager at The Christie, said: “The Christie is delighted to enter into this exciting new partnership with Two for Joy. The bespoke T-shirts look fantastic and we can’t wait to see the product for sale online! We’d like to thank Two for Joy for supporting our charity in this way and choosing to donate £10 of the proceeds of each product sold to The Christie. It is generous and impactful gestures such as this that allow us to continue to provide patients with projects, equipment and improvements that are over and above what the NHS funds.”
Jerath adds: “So many people are directly affected by cancer, it’s crucial that they [The Christie] carry on doing such an amazing job. Two for Joy has always given back to causes that resonate with ourselves and our customers – it’s so important to support your community.”
