'EFF YOUR beauty standards' - the core message from the weekend's first Curve Fashion Festival at Manchester Central (Saturday 26 September).

The all-day event was a happy celebration of the fuller figured woman.

With the help of Mississippi-born 'body positivity' campaigner and model Tess Holliday (pictured above), celebrated plus-sized model and daughter of 'The Hoff', Hayley Hasselhoff, and Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, the event showcased the best in plus-sized and curve-focused fashion brands.

A range of sizes took to the Curve Festival catwalk while clothing brands such as Evans were on hand to help ignite a body positivity movement here in the city centre and raise a middle finger to the fashion industry, which still struggles to accept curvier body types.

Created by fashion stylist Zoe Ellis-Pennick, The Curve Fashion Festival has aims of becoming the largest plus-size event in the UK.

"We found that there's all these amazing designers who aren't able to showcase at London Fashion Week. We want to show that plus-sized fashion is fashionable. Everyone should have the opportunity to showcase their work," she explains.

Ellis-Pennick says 'plus-sized' is a term that should be embraced - Read the full interview with Zoe Ellis-Pennick here
