Sultry, hot blooded and a joy, a night watching Bizet's Carmen is the ultimate night of passion.

Ellen Kent's critically acclaimed company, Opera and Ballet International, is bringing the famous and seductive work to the Liverpool Empire on Wednesday March 23.

A full orchestra and internationally renowned soloists come as standard, as does a replica of Seville’s main square with fountains, flowers and orange trees, plus unforgettable arias and the march of the Toreadors.

To celebrate, Liverpool Confidential has been handed a fabulous prize for one lucky reader.

* Two of the best seats in the house worth £87.
* A pre theatre banquet with wine at Lunya worth £70 and... wait for it...
* A limited run Carmen print by Ralph Steadman, personally signed by the artist and valued at £550.

Steadman is best known for his Rolling Stone collaborations with journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson whose books Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and The Curse of Lono he famously illustrated.

He has also been resident artist for wine merchant's Oddbins, illustrator to Will Self's Independent column, Pshycogeography and set designer for the Royal Opera House' s The Crucible. Not to mention a patron of Opera and Ballet International. Many of his stunning opera illustrations were created for Ellen Kent or for Harry Enfield's Guide to Opera in the 1990s.

This beautiful work is A2 in size and is part of a limited edition run. It is printed on museum quality smooth rag – the paper which Steadman himself draws his originals on – and will be signed by the artist himself.

To get you in the mood for the main event, our prize also includes a pre-theatre date for two in Lunya, College Lane, that bastion of all things Spanish where the lucky winner and guest will enjoy a Tasting Banquet and a bottle of house wine.

"Oh that. That's the Steadman," you'll be telling visitors as you quaff the tempranillo.
