THE festival season reaches its summer height with Glastonbury.

Yet for all its big eco-boasts, many of us can expect to spend 12 hours in a car crawling there – which kinda blows your small-but-beautifully-formed carbon tootsies out of the (muddy) water.

Closer to home, festival-going is Much Cooler – weather wise if nothing else - and this year you can do a bit of planet saving AND Fight The Power.

Yes, the multi-award winning Kendal Calling returns wth Public Enemy, Primal Scream, Basement Jaxx, Seasick Steve, Willy Moon and Johnny Marr among the galaxy of stars.

Primal ScreamPrimal ScreamIt's just in time for the school summer holidays from July 26-28 and a quick zap up the M6 – so when the kids shout “Are we there yet?” you can bellow back: “We sure as hell are. Quit bitchin and get pitchin.”

Kendal Calling is not just music acts. Set in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, Lowther Deer Park near Penrith, the festival is renowned for its expansive cultural programme – with performance art and a big commitment to kids from two to 82.

There's a dedicated children's and family area, this year bigger and better than ever before. Among the highlights are a magical Willy Wonka Chocolate Challenge, family breakfast café, heaps of scary/bouncy/slidy stuff in the kids zone, family friendly cabaret and the super Cheesy Glow Glow Disco.

Public-Enemy--007Public Enemy Add to that a beer festival, gourmet food, performance art and dozens of big music names over several stages and tents.

The music line up is here and all the other attractions here but before you go, we have a family weekend camping ticket to give away to one lucky reader!

That is worth MORE THAN £350 if your kids happen to be teenagers.

Of course, you can always buy a weekend ticket (£115 adults, £65 11-15 year olds and under 10s free excl booking fees) by clicking the link here.

Don't forget, you're responsible for taking your own tent and getting there.
