WITH around a million people piling into Liverpool to watch the latest Giant spectacle, Merseyrail has issued a statement saying altough extremely busy, trains are generally "running smoothly and on time".
Neverthess, people should to add on an extra hour and a half to their journey times.
"We estimate that over the three-day event, around three times more passengers are using our services than normally," said a spokesman.
"As yesterday, Wirral line should use Liverpool Central station so that passengers travelling from Moorfields can board trains easier. A more effective queueing system has been put in place at Liverpool Central. All Northern line passengers are advised to use Moorfields station."
It says all available Merseyrail rolling stock is on the network, there are more trains running, and they have put on extra carriages.
"At the end of the day, people should allow plenty of time for their train journeys – at least an extra hour to an hour and a half. Not rushing to stations will help avoid long queues.
"We continue to do all we can to support this great event for the city, but, please bear with us over this period."
