SIR David James Reynolds, 3rd Baronet of Woolton has died at 90.
His son, the renowned music producer and engineer James Francis Reynolds, will succeed the peerage and becomes the 4th Baronet.
Sir David, grandson of the first baronet, Col Sir James Reynolds, DSO, passed away last Thursday in Jersey as he approached his 91st birthday.
Members of the Reynolds’ family converged on Woolton Woods earlier this month to demonstrate their feelings about the proposal to take a slice of the woods, gifted to the city by Col Sir James in 1917. The message they left was that the colonel gave the 10 acres of land for the enjoyment of the people for generation after generation.
Among the family members travelling to Liverpool was Sir David’s wife, Lady Charlotte Reynolds. Her husband was too ill to make the journey, but it was agreed Lady Reynolds needed to fly the flag for the land her grandfather-in-law donated to the people.
A handful of the organisers were aware that behind the friendly smiles and dignity shown by Reynolds and family members, was concern for Sir David.
The purpose was to unveil a plaque to mark the birth of Col Sir James Reynolds in 1865. In truth the event could have been held over, but family members felt it important for a gathering of the clan to take place at this time.
Sir David, the 3rd Baronet of Woolton, was born on January 26, 1924, the son of Sir John Francis Roskell Reynolds, 2nd Bt. and Millicent Lilian Elizabeth Orr Ewing.2 He married Charlotte Baumgartner in 1966. He lived Woolton and was educated Downside.
He was a captain in the 15th Hussars in World War II, and became the 3rd baronet in 1956 when his father died.
Sue Carmichael, one of the organisers of the Woolton visit said this evening: “ We are most grateful for the strong Reynolds’ family support of this event underlining both the historic importance of their ancestor and World War 1 hero Colonel Sir James Reynolds and his generous 10 acre gift to Liverpool among his many other acts of philanthropy. We are saddened to hear of the recent death of his grandson Sir David Reynolds and have offered our condolences to Lady Reynolds and her family.”

The youngest member of the Reynolds family to make the visit to Liverpool last week was James Francis Reynolds, heir to the title who now becomes the 4th Baronet of Woolton. James F Reynolds, as he is widely known, is a renowned British record producer, mix engineer and musician.
Described as "the secret partner and secret weapon" for some of the biggest names in the pop and dance industry, he also write music for television adverts and themes. Aged 43, James F Reynolds is the son of the late Sir David and Lady Charlotte Reynolds. He has two older sisters, Laura Mary and Sofie Josefine.
He has mixed and produced songs for Paloma Faith, JLS, Tinie Tempah, Snoop Dogg, Gorillaz, Professor Green, The Saturdays, Tinchy Stryder, Pixie Lott, Artful Dodger, Selena Gomez, Super Mal. James has also worked with Jessie J, Loick Essien, Wretch 32 and Alexandra Burke
As one half of the musical ensemble group Braund Reynolds, James F released "Rocket (A Natural Gambler)", a chart hit and the first record of the week for three BBC Radio 1 DJs at the same time.
In 2006, along with friend and colleague Dobs Vye, he established Public Symphony. He plays the piano, guitar, bass, harmonica. That, then, is the new Baronet Reynolds of Woolton, a famous music industry guru, working from a recording studio in Hammersmith.
