MORE than 2,200 people have applied for just 19 sales jobs at DFS, which is opening in Aintree next month, the sofa store claims.
Store manager Stuart Parish said: “We were surprised at the response - I don't think we expected anything like the number of applications we received but we've been really encouraged to see so many people wanting to work at their local DFS store.”
The 15,000 sq ft store, which opens on August 3, says it has been interviewing candidates from across the region for the jobs which promise up to £35k salaries if they hit their monthly targets – and as for JobCentre Plus staff, they already did.
Can the successful applicants expect bank holidays off? Like Santa having Christmas off, it's probably best not to ask.
However, “customers can choose from 1, 2, 3 or 4 years interest free credit with no deposit, on everything in store,” the news release announcing the jobs rush earnestly adds.
