Pride and guide
Expect to see thousands of "superheroes" choosing to march instead of fly through Liverpool city centre this Saturday for the city’s fourth Liverpool Pride Festival. Costume is encouraged, so don a cape and join the celebrations in colourful style.
The march starts at St George’s Hall and ends at the Pier Head. The finishing line will be home to stalls, live music and bars all day.
Liverpool Pride FestivalDown at the water, there will be guests on stage including Geordie Shore’s Jay Gardner, the Hollyoaks cast and a performance by X factor star Amelia Lily.
The event’s second stage is set up on Stanley Street, where local up and comers will be introduced by hosts Paul German and Desperate Scousewives ladies Amanda Harrington and Layla Flaherty.
The crowds will meet in front of St George’s Hall at 11am, where speeches will take place before the march starts at midday. If you are in costume, turn up early for the head count and get involved in setting a new record for the largest number of superheroes in one place.
Bring your dog along for the walk and help raise money for the Guide Dogs charity. Your pup will look really cute with a doggy superhero cape on!
Thanks to all of the volunteers the Pride Festival is free, so show your support and walk the streets. In the organiser’s words: be big, be bold and be beautiful.

On the tiles
It’s all happening at St George’s Hall this weekend. The annual reveal of the Minton Tiles Floor in the Great Hall starts this Saturday. Who would think that for 11 months of the year they are hidden underneath laminated wood flooring? Credit to whoever decided to cover the beautiful 30,000 tiles in 1886, because it kept them all in prime condition. Now we can take a peek and see the Great Hall the way it would have looked 100 years ago in all of its grandeur.
The floor design consists of three large circles surrounded by smaller circles, which contain the Royal coat of arms, Star of the St George, the Rose, and the Thistle and Shamrock.
Make sure you wipe your feet on the way in.

Dingle bells
Browse around the stalls this Saturday in the Grand Hall of The Florrie, the beautiful Grade II listed Victorian building in the Dingle. There will be print makers, textiles, handmade jewellery, vintage gifts and much more trying to tempt your purse strings open. There is entertainment for the kids too; they can learn circus skills in the gym or try arts and crafts in the Heritage Centre. Overall, it could be a nice day out for family.

Leap of faith
Up to 300 daredevils are set to take a leap of faith from Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral this Saturday and next.
It's the return of the annual Cathedral abseil – where individuals, businesses and organisations are given the chance to take on a 150ft freefall drop from above the Cathedral’s West Doors in aid of charity.
This year’s participants include the Unity Theatre, Zoe’s Place, The Children’s Society, Liverpool Pride, Liverpool Unites and Everton in the Community. A number of local clergy will also be abseiling in aid of their churches.
On both days people can enjoy cream teas outside as they watch the abseilers take on the challenge.
Tina Morris, Cathedral Fundraiser said: “The abseil offers a fantastic spectacle and an opportunity for local charities to raise both money and awareness – they can literally shout it from the rooftops! The participants will experience a unique view of the city and everyone is welcome to come to the cathedral and watch.
