From a craft beer expo to a kimchi workshop - here's 10 ways to stay sated through August-ish
Feels like summer outside, doesn’t it? As we near the end of July, these sunny days and this searing, almost-unbearable-but-also-quite-fantastic heat is showing no sign of letting up.
And though that may not be the best news if you’re stuck in an office all day or forced to endure public transport every morning and evening, it is fantastic news if you’re a fan of great food and drink.
So pull on your boots, put on your foodie hat and get yourself over to some of Liverpool’s most exciting gastronomic festivals, events and workshops. ‘Tis the season, after all.
Craft Beer Expo
26th - 29th July
Now in its sixth year, the Liverpool Craft Beer Expo is a four day festival which showcases and celebrates the best beers and breweries that Europe has to offer. Located at the Invisible Wind Factory, the event includes an almost incomprehensible range of beers for guests to try, as well as a gin bar, cider truck and street food market, too. It began on the 26th July – meaning it’s happening right now, as you read this – but is going on until the 29th, giving you plenty of time to get down there and get drinking.

Pimms and Cider Festival
16th July - 2nd September
What better drinks are there to enjoy in the blazing sun than Pimms and cider? Wouldn’t you just leap at the chance to make the most of some great offers on that particular dynamic duo? Well, you’re in luck. For the whole of August (and much of July), Yates in Queen's Square will be hosting Liverpool's very own Pimms and Cider Festival. They're offering 2-4-1 on all draught and bottled ciders, as well as a number of offers on Pimms jugs and spritz cocktails.

Summer BBQ Constellations
All summer, Wednesday-Sunday
Summer is a season practically made for the barbeque, and nobody understands that better than Constellations. Every week during August, they're offering a unique, create-your-own BBQ menu for only £7. Choose your own base (such as a brioche bun or tortilla wrap), a protein filling (smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, jackfruit; you know the score) and any number of toppings and sauces to spice it up. Bargain summer vibes.

Sauerkraut and Kimchi Workshop
Okay, so it's not the most glamorous workshop in the world (what do you want, caviar tasting?) but you're bound to learn a lot. This informal workshop will delve into the science behind fermented foods and teach you just how to make and perfect your very own sauerkraut and kimchi. Not a lot of time left before this one’s off the cards, but you won’t regret it if you take the leap.

Rioja Tasting Night
Rioja is unarguably Spain's finest wine region. Its reds - known for their bold flavours and high tannins - are, naturally, counted among the world's finest. Don't take our word for it though, find out for yourself at the Dace Tea Rooms' very own Rioja tasting evening. They'll be trying half a dozen of the region's most characterful wines, including a white and a rose - both of which are incredible rare finds in Rioja. Food to match, of course, so expect a spread of tapas-style Spanish specialities.

Enter the Gin Party: a two-day celebration of Britain's finest spirit, spread out across the gardens and interior of St Luke's Church. As well as an eye-watering number of gins, there'll also be a range of local foods on offer, as well as a programme of live music and talks. Oh, and the ticket price (£9) includes a free souvenir gin glass. What’s not to love?

Pizza and Prosecco Festival
We know what you’re thinking, and yes, you’re right – it’s not quite Liverpool. But come on: pizza and Prosecco! What’s not to love? A ticket to this event at Chester's Carriage Shed includes a free slice and Aperol Spritz on entry, while a range of local street food traders and pizza specialists will be there to peddle their wares - accompanied by twenty different types of Prosecco. DJs, bands and singers throughout the day, too, so you’ll never be wanting for something to do.

Some of those speciality rums come from as far away as the West Indies, Cuba, South America and the United States.
