The French Tricolour is flying at half mast over Liverpool Town Hall in the wake of Friday's terror attacks on Paris which claimed 129 lives.

Meanwhile a book of condolence has today opened in the foyer of the building for members of the public to leave messages.

Over the weekend, St George’s Hall was been lit up in the colours of the French flag, while the Plateau and the visiting Weeeping Window sculpture was the focus of the city's observation of a Europe-wide minute’s silence today at 11am.

Liverpool City Council says the book of messages will be available for people to sign each weekday from 9am to 5pm.

It is inviting those who cannot get there to email their tributes to town.hall@liverpool.gov.uk or tweet them to @townhallLpool, and they will be added.
