High and dry at the Brink
Alcohol free zone the Brink has come up with a selection of spooky mocktails this Halloween.

The Parr Street dry bar has devised a devilish drinks offering with a difference comprising fresh and healthy ingredients.

Frightening flavours include Nojito (freshly squeezed limes and mint sprigs topped with lemonade), Passion Punch (passionfruit, pineapple, lemon and orange) and Brink Panther (fresh strawberries, cranberry juice, super fruit tea and apple & elderflower cordial).

General Manager of The Brink Carl Bell said: “With Halloween fast approaching, we are set to provide a lot more treats than tricks! With that in mind, we have created a selection of concoctions that combine fiendish flavours with creepy colours and best of all our mocktails are suitable for every one of all ages including little monsters.”

In addition to the spooky mocktails, The Brink is set to host a Halloween and Bonfire Night Party on Saturday, October 29 between 7pm-11pm. The free event will showcase fireworks, Halloween games and a disco, together with a fancy dress competition for old and young.

Admission is free. Mocktails are priced at £2.95 each.

Hot dogs and rockets

Mouth-watering hot dogs, delicious cups of hot mulled cider and waterfront views of a spectacular firework display will be some of the Bonfire Night treats available at Pullman Liverpool.

The four-star hotel, located at King’s Dock, will serve food from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Saturday 5th November outside its Dukes restaurant, before the night’s entertainment kicks off with the River of Light display.

The River of Light will take place on Liverpool’s waterfront where a firework show will be fired from three barges moored in the middle of the Mersey.

The firework display is a collaboration between Liverpool City Council and Wirral Council and aims to be one of the most ambitious firework events in the country.

The build-up to the display will start from 4pm, with street entertainment from drummers and fire performers Bring the Fire.

From 5:30pm, drummers Les Commandos Percu and Deabru Beltzak will embark on the city, starting from Liverpool Town Hall and moving through a city centre route filling the streets with music, lights and fireworks.

Spectators will be able to get a brilliant view of the fireworks from along the waterfront, running from Alexandra Tower on Princes Parade right the way along the past the Echo Arena and Convention Centre.

Hot Dogs are £5.00; Hot Mulled Cider - £4.50, Hot chocolate, tea and coffee - £3.50. No tickets are required, say Pullman, but plenty of loose wonga is.

The popular Beatles inspired venue, nestled within the award-winning Hard Days Night Hotel, has devised a menu with traditional Christmas dining in mind.

Available between November 21 and December 24, the two and three course variations combine a series of family favourites infused with contemporary flavours, to provide "a refreshing taste of yuletide nostalgia", it says here.

Mains include traditional roast turkey with pigs in blankets, fondant potato, cranberry and sage stuffing and seasonal veg, Salmon marinated in chilli, garlic, lime and honey and mushroom Wellington served with Roasted Garlic Potato.

Berlin nights
BOLD Street restaurant Miyagi has launched a ‘Soul, Beats, Liquor & Eats’ evening inspired by the building's roots.

The space, formerly Café Berlin, was a hang out for Liverpool’s new wave musicians and northern soul lovers during the 1980s.

Miyagi boss Alex Hannah says: ‘The building has such a history and we wanted to make the most of its heritage. Many people come in and say they remember it as Cafe Berlin.

It had some great gigs in here, and was featured on The Tube.

"We wanted to take the place back to its roots to try and recreate some of those magical soul nights, but also we are keen to give it a modern edge by adding our own Miyagi twist.

"Which is why we have launched a new late night small plate menu and some bespoke cocktails."

Soul, Beats, Liquor & Eats will run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9.30pm.

Speke-easy
Liverpool Gin has gone onto the shelves of the duty free stores at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The premium gin, which was bought out earlier this year by the Lambrini people, Halewood Wines & Spirits, is produced in limited batches at a site in Huyton.

Both World Duty Free and LJLA management say they are keen to work more closely with local companies.

David Taylor, LJLA’s Interim Commercial Manager commented, “It’s great to be able to showcase award winning local products such as Liverpool Gin here at the airport and to offer the millions of passengers flying out from here the opportunity to purchase it as they pass through.
