Life of Riley for lucky few as celeb chef Gizzi gets the dinner on

CELEBRITY chef Gizzi Erskine has joined forces with our very own Ian Broudie to host a gala 10th anniversary party for the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

Over a candlelit banquet, in Sefton Park, the Lightning Seeds will croon their hits in “a live and intimate acoustic set”; if any further proof were needed that food is the new rock n roll on days when politics isn’t.

Meanwhile, the self styled Holly Golightly (Erskine, not Broudie), hosts the £75-a-head event which they’ve titled “Beauty and the Feast”.

“During the evening, guests will be entertained in a boho themed pop-up banqueting marquee, featuring atmospheric hanging festoon lighting, fire pits and long candlelit tables to create an extra special festival vibe,” it says here, not to mention "access to posh toilets".

“Gizzi’s Asian inspired banquet features four starters including roasted duck and watermelon salad and bang bang chicken with vegetable noodles. There is a main course of either lamb spit roast in bao buns or crispy confit aubergine with miso and satay in bao buns, followed by baked Vietnamese coffee, caramel and popcorn cheesecake."

Erskine, well known for her innovative pop-up events, says she is looking forward to returning to Liverpool.

“I really fell in love with the city last time I came to Liverpool Food and Drink Festival and I am so excited about coming back to cook up a feast for this special anniversary party," she said.

The do, which takes place on Friday 15th September, is limited to 200 people who can expect The Life Of Riley.  However those diners hoping for a full on sway, over the post prandial brandies, to Three Lions on a Shirt ought to understand that such behaviour simply isn't done.
