TomalocoALL together now: “If you're going to the Kaz-i-mierrrrr, be sure to wear... tomatoes in your hair.....”
OK, maybe not.
For one midsummer night only, on Saturday June 22, a little bit of Valencia comes to Liverpool when the Kaz stages its own version of La Tomatina – the world's favourite food fight.
"Tomaloco" is part of the club's annual Krunk Fiesta: three stages, 25 acts and 12 hours of marching bands, bells and whistles – and it's not even King Billy's Day.
Tomato headActs include Renegade Brass Band, Bobby Conn, Melt Yourself Down, Dogshow, Lunar Modular, Harlequin Dynamite Marching Band, Calendar Lads, White Blackula, Edgar Jones, We Are Animal, Other Earth, Swinging Bricks, Alphamale Tea Party, The Otherness, Sheepy, even Aigburth Cricket Club's Merseysippi Jazz Band are in there.
Flamenco dancing will be provided by Mimi Amore and tumbling acrobats Get Oop La will be providing other japes.
Alas, not all will get pelted with tomatoes, for the fruity fun is part of the Tomaloco gameshow and contestants will be chosen by lottery.
In common with many happenings at the Kaz, they weren't giving too much away, but Fiesta-goers are encouraged to wear tomato-based costumery. Failing that, don't come kitted out in your Sunday best. It is going to get messy.
