YOU know a restaurant is in serious foodie love when they cook every single thing they serve from scratch. That’s exactly what happens at Puschka, the quirky independent restaurant nestled in the heart of the historic Georgian quarter.

At Puschka they love food, they love eating, and they love the way food (and wine) brings friends and family together

It’s a truism that you get back from life what you put in, and in Puschka’s case that’s an incredible devotion to the quality and provenance of its ingredients.

Here, ingredients are delivered fresh every morning, and they’re on your plate by the evening. Veggies are grown by the Pimbley family at Claremont Farm on the Wirral, meat and game comes from master butcher Paul Hevey (who prides himself on sourcing local breeds from local farmers). The cheeses come from Liverpool Cheese Company in Woolton Village. Even the flour used in Puschka’s puddings, cakes, breads and pastries is ground from wheat grown around the mill at Walkmill near Chester.

The result is amazing food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making this restaurant a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered – if you haven’t already made it a favourite.
Located just a few minutes from the city centre, Puschka is perfectly placed for accessing some of Liverpool’s major attractions, including the Unity and Everyman Theatres, the Philharmonic Hall and the Cathedrals.

If you’re catching a show, then the restaurant’s Early Bird menu offers some mouth-watering appetisers, including Cropwell Bishop Stilton & port cheesecake and Menai Strait mussels, while mains include herb-crusted haddock, and maple-roast bacon chop. With dark chocolate and ginger torte on the dessert list, plus a great range of sides and cheeses, this is the pre-theatre menu that you’ve been searching for!

Alternatively, head down later in the evening and choose from the a la carte menu, (where highlights include Liverpool gin-cured salmon, and slow-roasted belly pork), and linger to enjoy the unique, cosy atmosphere of this special little eaterie.

At Puschka they love food, they love eating, and they love the way food (and wine) brings friends and family together. A good enough reason to put Puschka to the top of your list, wouldn’t you say?
